Nice report

Thanks for sharing. Been hoping to get back there this year. I think I will try that route for Granite.

ooo

I don't know what's more cute - Chlamydomonas nivalis descriptions or the font colors. And stuff. Stuff.

Nice work, Sarah. Looks like a fun little scramble to tack on to the wishlist. Always figured you two travel sorts would make a great pairing. Identical personalities and whatnot.

Re: ooo

Hah you are FUNNY! especially the last part. I'm pretty sure all my stuff is equally cute. Though you forgot to italicize Chlamydomonas nivalis...hopefully you won't make that mistake in the future when you type more species names, like of flowers and stuff, for instance. Oh and p.s. I would italicize the name on here, but it won't let me :-(

Awesome work Sarah!

Thanks for the great report. One of the most beautiful approaches I have done in the Beartooths!

Wow!

That area looks fantastic. I will have to get out there. Good to see Lemke wandering around. I'm sure his guidebook is going to be fantastic and bring Coloradoans over there in droves ;)...

P.S.: I would also vote for Mountain goats... but marmots though... hmmm.

Re: Wow!

Thanks Prakash! Though MARMOTS?? I hope you are being sarcastic!! How those fat pudgy things survive in the alpine is beyond me.

YO

Really nice trip report on a route that has long needed more beta. Very good detail and Photos, plus entertaining. I've long wanted to do that route, could it be done the other way, starting on Granite and traversing to West Granite? How would the climb up out of the notch be?

Maverick, I hope the Beartooths stay a little as they are, lonely and largely untracked..... (no offense to Coloradans, but you can see what happened down there).

Re: YO

The traverse from Granite to West Granite would be CONSIDERABLY more difficult because the rappel route into the notch is full of blank vertical to slightly overhanging faces which would maybe go at at least 5.11 climbing. I was glad to be climbing up Granite Peak from the notch up one of a few more reasonable routes.

I also put up a mountain page for West Granite Peak and a route page for the traverse you can check out if you want!

Great TR

Nice tr, good beta, and wonderful pics. Glad you had a good one in the Beartooths, home of the awe-inspiring death march :)

Awesome TR!

Thanks for sharing. Early August... did you guys hit any snow in the SW Coulior on descent?

Cheers

Re: Awesome TR!

Nope, it was all dry. This was last year though, not sure how the snow cover compares to this year.
