Route Climbed: Coire nam Beith to Bidean nam bian then along the ridge to Stob Coire Sgreamhach Date Climbed: April 2000
We sat in the Car for 10 minutes whilst heavy rain bounced off the windows, not a good sign! We climbed up through easy snow in the Coire nam Beith to the ridge near to Stob Coire nam Beith. The wind on the ridge was very intense but we continued to Bidean nam Bian, on reflection this would have been a better route to descend by, as we found later.
We left Bidean nam Bian and followed the ridge to the col leading into the lost valley. We had intended to descend into the valley however there was large cracks in the snow so we didnt. Instead we carried on to Stob Coire Sgreamhach, then scrambled down to a rocky col on Beinn Fhada and descended into Lairig Elide (see photo). This was a challenging finish to a challenging mountain, but it meant that we had a long walk back to the car!
