Black Magic
With Michael from Israel. 7 routes in 6 days that I had yet to climb at the Needles. Success on all accounts. Pit and Pendulum was the best one of this trip and, short of the Spell, my favorite moderate route in the Needles. Black Magic was our last route, simple and fast, 6 hrs car to car. Was worried it might be too hot, but the first three pitches remain shaded until late morning. There are some tempting cracks to flirt with re an potential FA paralleling Black Magic to the right. The upper slabs are run out but mid class at most. From the top of the slabs, put on approach shoes and easily surmount the old fire look out with a little exposure on the north side.
