I enjoy ultras so I liked your report. 37.5 miles is an odd distance;usually you see 50K or 50 mile ultras. Sounds like you learned you needed to train more for the ultra-but congrats for toughing it out. Next time, put a camera in your Camelbak and take some pics for the TR.
The pics add a lot. And your video is great. Really gives a feel for the course and its beauty. It shows why people do ultras. And I know the feeling right afterward of "I may never do another one." That feeling passes.
Good job! I've backpacked the Under-The-Rim Trail and on my mental todo list is to redo it without the heavy pack, but I don't think I'd do it in the middle of summer.
