Poor Translation

Please note that the noun "Țigaie" (singular) / "Țigăi" (plural) means "Breed of sheep with prime wool" or, better, "Sheep belonging to this breed". So I would better translate: "Țigăile Mici" = "Small Țigăi" and "Țigăile Mari" = "Big Țigăi".
Also "Aramă" means "Copper". So I would translate "Turnul de Arama" = "Copper Tower".
Thank You!

Re: Poor Translation

Personally, I'm in favour of "Little Țigăi" and "Great Țigăi".

Greetings from Poland.

Re: Poor Translation

Sorry, but in my opinion it's not a good idea to translate the toponyms. They should remain in their original language because You'll find them quickly on the maps!
In Romania there are some areas where You could find traditionnaly some toponyms in three languages: Romanian, Hungarian and German, but never in English!
Thank You!

Re: Poor Translation

IMO it's a good idea to give a translation too (as long as the toponym can be translated easily) or explain the meaning of the name when the object is first mentioned - so as to satiate the reader's curiosity. When this has been done, the original name should normally be used.
