Charged Particles?

Charged particles affecting my film? I've only ever seen this on 2 or 3 other pictures that I've ever taken and those other pictures are all from this trip. Luckily, my usual climbing partner, Dave, straightened me out when I showed him these pictures. Shaking his head and barely able to hold back laughter, he explained that sometimes, especially when it's cold, rewinding film too fast inside a camera can generate static electricity that can cause visible artifacts in the picture. Okay, so I'm an idiot. Have I ever denied it? ;-)
