Route Climbed: AT Date Climbed: 1973, 1985, 1992, 2000
I've hiked up to Charlies Bunion from several routes, all eventually via the Appalachian Trail, along which the Bunion stands. It's one of the most impressive sights along the entire length of the Southern Appalachians, in my opinion. Everyone who enjoys hiking should see Charlies Bunion when they visit the Great Smokies. Well worth the trip.
Lots of bears in this section of the park, in my experience. I almost always encounter bears on this section of the AT.

Route Climbed: From Newfound Gap Date Climbed: May 1996I found this to be a great hike. Along the way there is a nice spring to refresh your water supply.
