Cold Spring Water on a Hot Day

Cold Spring Water on a Hot Day

Just past the top of the switchbacks on the way to White Pass and Glacier Peak was a trickle of ice cold spring water. It was Fourth-of-July weekend 2015, the hottest on record, so it was like finding a cold drinking fountain right next to the trail. We had been hiking up the switchbacks during the hottest part of the day with no breeze. We each took turns filling up water bottles and dumping them on ourselves--it felt amazing and gave all of us a second wind.
