NW Ridge  Sucess!

Since being on the summit of Mt. Brazeau I have always wanted to climb the north glacier of Coronet Mountain. July 2013, we originally planned to attempt to day trip the South Face route on Mt. Warren, with a backup plan of the north glacier route on Coronet. Well with a late start (I worked a full day in Calgary) and with some heavy rain on the approach, we didn’t get as far as hoped and camped about 1km before the col north of Coronet. Just after first light we headed to the access the glacier on Coronet, but there was no easy way to access the now hanging glacier.

We bailed on that attempt and slogged up the scree slopes on the west side and joined the North-West Ridge about 1/3 of the way. The final summit slope had a fun snow/ice climb on the summit glacier. A great day with Steven S.
