Cosmic AshtrayThanks for making a page for Red Breaks. This is my favorite photo from the area that you added.

Re: Cosmic AshtrayNo, I had planned on going to Red Breaks before but always ended up somewhere else. It looks like a great hike.

Re: Cosmic AshtrayJust to make you a little more excited for your future trip here...
Open the Cosmic ashtray photo to full size and look closely at the opposite rim of the giant hole.
See if you can spot the person about midway up the left side of the photo on the rim to give you perspective on how big this really is

IntriguingThis is a surprise, to say the least. Does it look like a solid rock from the outside, thus a big surprise when you get to the top and look down? A really great photo. What is the white billowy stuff in the top left corner?

Re: IntriguingThe white stuff is snow! It was march 2010 when I was here after a very cold, wet winter in southern Utah.
It's a very intriguing formation for sure about as wide as a football field...or wider. I'd guess 100-200 feet deep. I knew it was there so it really wasn't a surprise but what really shocked me was how big it really is!

Re: IntriguingThanks. This one of those photos that needs to be "enjoyed". Love the snow!
