Did tourist trails as a kid and was very impressed. I had a new Instamatic camera and played photographer.

Several Hikes
We spent 3 days here hiking and exploring. Hiked Mount Scott, Elevation, 8929', then all the smaller trails. The second day we did The Watchman, elevation 8013', then Discovery Point trail, castle crest wildflower trail, and the Pinnacles. The third day we saw the Annie creek Trail and then did the Cleetwood Cove trail for the boat tour. Next visit we'll have to tackle Garfield Peak the only one we didn't do...I think I wore my family out!

3rd time
Great to be back at my childhood idea of nirvana! Had a great trip up Hillman Peak. This was a great and beautiful side note to a otherwise somber trip to Oregon.

The Watchman
Climbed the Watchman with the family. Devin is getting stronger and was able to make the entire climb up. The area is really beautiful. Can't wait to return to climb some of the other peaks in southern Oregon.

Several Short Hikes
Took several short hikes at various places along the rim looking for the best photo ops of this remarkable body of water. Planned to hike Wizard's Island on day two, but the tickets were sold out 20 minutes after the booth opened! :-( --mark d.

North Rim
Just a short visit. The snow didn't allow much exploring but added to the stunning views.

Quick trip
Just a quick trip around the area as much as the snowey roads would allow. Snow levels were very low this year, but still most the area was closed. Very beautiful place.

Watchman
This was supposed to be a snowshoe venture, but the late fall meant that it was a walk in the snow and rock etc.. Sharon (wife), Mike and I parked clockwise from Watchman, walked up Watchman, went a ways back towards the Rim Village, doubled back to and past the car, walked around but not up Hillman, then walked another mile or so along the rim before returning to the car. Very light effort, seems almost strange to call it a summit. Nice views of Wizard Island, Thielson, Bailey and the Caldera. After being very familiar with the area in the early sixties, I was astonished at how perspective changes--never thought of it as "inside a classic Cascade stratovolcano" as a kid. Beautiful sky day. Will post pics when I can scan them. May have been the Saturday after the given dsate.
Hiked down to the lake, took the boat and hiked up wizard island. Next day we hiked up garfield peak.
