Approached by way of the Glacier Trail, skirted Talus Mountain and camped on Goat Flat. Tremendous thunderstorm that night which nearly took me out! Crossed No Man's Pass and kick-stepped my way up snow field directly to the summit. The wind was so fierce I actually got blown off my feet up near the summit! Views south to the Titcomb Basin group of peaks is unique.

Mtn Lion, 1977
First time up this peak I came over Goat Flat with a British companion, Charlie Whitby. A fog came down on the plateau on the way back and, in the spooky half light with the sound deadened, we surprised a mountain lion. Have also done this peak from Green River Lakes over Osborne--another rewarding and lonely route.
Loved Bear Basin ! Clear Creek beyond the natural bridge was a bushwhack through a blanket of dead trees from a previous years fire.

Goat Flat (NW) Route
From my camp at just under 11,000 ft a mile SW of the 10895 ft pass crossed by the Glacier Trail, I hiked across Goat Flats and over the No Mans Pass and up to the summit. I enjoyed a great view from the top of this big, remote peak.

Route Climbed: From The North
Climbed it with montana boy, and would agree, not a very exciting climb. maybe it was the huge packs, or the awful night spent near Dad's Lake on very rocky ground. we climbed from the North along the Continental Divide on our way to Downs Lake via No Man's Pass.

Climbed in a blizzard on the way to Downs lake valley. It was a beast with the conditions and expedition packs, but i'm sure the views would have been great. Not much of an exciting climb though.
