fun hike
Had a nice, gradually ascending hike to the summit with Tim. We approached via Virginia Lakes and climbed the NE ridge. Definitely some spectacular views from this summit. Some storms were brewing while we were on top so we didn't hang out too long. When we got back to base camp on Green Creek we feasted on tri-tip, potatoes, and good beer with the ladies.

Winter climb
Took the opportunity to climb this in a low snow year. Ice on the talus and frigid wind made this less enjoyable than my usual summer climbs. Register had been placed Sept 2010 and already had a couple dozen entries.

Northern Yosemite's high country views are the payoff. North faces of Conness and North Peak seem within touching distance.

Nice dayhike from the Virginia Lakes trailhead. After leaving the trail, I had the mountain all to myself. A little cool and windy, but the views were worth it. Didn't find a summit register.

Climbed this peak with Greg Enright on a search for an overdue day hiker. We summited to check the summit register to see if the missing hiker had signed in, then descended the North Ridge (the subject's reported ascent route). We found the missing hiker, unfortunately deceased, on the east side of the north ridge. She had apparently taken a loooong fall to the glacier/snowfield in the cirque below. We declined the helo ride out, and continued back to the trailhead on foot.

No ice axe, no crampons for the first time this year! At last, a nice class 1 hike on a perfect day. Easy, easy ascent on mostly consolidated scree/talus.

Nice fall climb. We didnt see any other people, had perfect weather and some new snow, thigh deep near the peak . It was so clear it seemed like you could see hundreds of miles.
