Via Crow Lake Way Trail  Sucess!

Did this one after some fresh snowfall the night before. This one took longer than expected, especially because of the snow conditions. Snow was usually about ankle deep with snow reaching from knee to waist deep in spots, especially near the summit. Not sure I would have brought snow shoes because a lot of the snow isn't deep enough and has some nasty rock underneath. The short scramble section to get to the summit area was covered in snow in ice, but the holds were very solid so it was doable. Otherwise, a beautiful day with the views of Mt. Stuart, Mt. Adams, Mt. St. Helens, and of course the other Fifes summits. Had the entire area alone. Apparently not a popular summit since it was looking like there were one or two summits per month in the register recently.

First ones in the summit register  Sucess!

OK, so we were a little impatient and climbed the wrong gully. Some sporting 3rd class so that was OK. An underrated mountain. Not sure why it isn't more popular. We liked it.

Long day  Sucess!

Been wanting to do this one since I saw it from Aix. Started off interestingly enough taking the wrong trail from the parking lot. After I figured it out I got up to the little saddle in a couple hours. Angled up to the ridge through the grassy slopes and then hopped over the ridge to the base of West Peak. Easy scrambling up. On the way back, I got lost for about 45 minutes as you can't see the saddle while in the trees. I ended up heading down Miner's Creek before I figured out I needed to head straight south which was actually up from where I was to find the trail. Finally used the compass in my first aid kit. Spooked a herd of goats on the ridge and then an elk with a huge rack in the switchbacks.
