Re: Amazing shot!

Quite many cents I have to admit. Not exactly a reasonable acquisition. Also, this silly thing turned out much larger than the photos on the web indicated. Now I look like some paparazzo, when I put it on my machine...

But a man has to do what a man has to do!

Re: Amazing shot!

A man with big 'equipment' :)))
Great shot. Conspirationists will notice some nice 'chemtrails' across the sun perhaps ;)
cheers

Re: Amazing shot!

Chemtrails? No the sun has rings like Saturn. This photo proves it :-)

Re: Great pix!

Look up the price for a Sony SAL 2470-Z and your jealousy will dampen. I'm still not really sure why I bought it. Moreover, I won't be able to hide the acquisition from my girlfriend. It's the first silver lense and it's much bigger than the previous Sigma 70 -300mm zoom.

One of these days I'll have some explanation to do ...

What is power?

Answer:

Power is the containment of energy born in the heart of the blazing (life-giving) sun !!! !!

Gangolf, you need more sunshine pictures?
Please, come down here to Arizona!

Re: What is power?

You know, the sun is something special - even more so when it usually hides behind clouds and rain. This way a sunset like this even gets more special ...

Re: So reich an Farbe!

Actually - if you look at it in Photoshop - you'll see only reds and yellow - not that rich in colour I think. But intense!

Nice colors

Maybe, camera+lens cost is higher that the average pay month in my country hehehe.

Anyway really nice color effect. I love it.

Re: Nice colors

I'm afraid you're right about the average income. Though the brand name I wrote above is that of another - even more expensive - lens.

I'm quite happy about the shot which was absolutely last minute. I had a polarizer on and had to struggle to get it off for the shot and finally managed just in time for the sun to set behind the fir. Call that luck!

Grabber

"Wow" is the first word I uttered when I saw this pic. A picture of the week in my opinion.

Re: Grabber

Glad you like it, Dean! Luckily it's already too late for the potw so I won't have to align my supporters for the group vote and hug. Also, the shot was taken from my back porch and thus is not really mountain related. I could construct a connection, however :-)

It's fascinating that pictures like this drop out of your chip without taking any special attention. Cameras perfectly measure the lighting conditions and all you have to do is pull the trigger at the right time. Any of the heatedly discussed butterfly pictures is much, much harder to take.
