My toes 36 years after suffering 3rd degree frostbite. I lost the ability to get up a few specific hard climbs that required a hard "toe-in" move but learned to compensate by using the side of my foot instead. With modern shoes or boots I don't notice the injury at all. I did suffer the "phantom limb" effect for a few years in the form of an "itchy" toe but it went away. I do have to be extremely careful about the cold in that I don't feel my toes going numb due to nerve damage.
