My primary interest in documenting mountaineering has always been photography. But in recent years I have experienced a growing interest in creating video accounts of climbing. This has been largely influenced by Sender Films and a few video savvy friends.
My first attempts amounted to nothing more than short clips. Then with practice I created a few short videos which contained a lot of narration, like the other videos I had seen. Finally the whole thing evolved into a "new style" which withholds all or most of the dialog, and allows the music to set the feel. I'm very happy with these newer videos. Recently I upgraded my camera so all new videos will be in HD format with image stabilization.
Photographs clearly are the best way to capture the details of landscapes and crux moves on difficult terrain but I have found that video can better capture the overall feel of a climb in a way that makes it easier to relive the excitement. The videos below are displayed newest first.
