Glacier NP - Grinnell Glacier Trail

On the Grinnell Glacier Trail, July 31, 2005 View of Lake Josephine, about 1/3 of the way to the glacier Almost to the point where the trail turns away from the lakes and starts to head directly toward the glacier Read my trip report about this hike here.

What makes this

awesome is you can "zoom in" to the bridge
and the two people walking along what looks to
be a sandbar. This is truly amazing.

What "group" do you belong to? Is it a youth
group?? The color of the water tells me
there's a glacier nearby. Nice photography!!!

Re: What makes this

I was travelling with a part of my Boy Scout troop composed of older Scouts during a two week trip out west. The lake is Lake Josephine which receives water from Grinnell Glacier and perhaps, Salamander Glacier; I'm not sure. You can walk from the boat across to meet the trail or across to other trails around the lakes here. It's a popular area but the beauty is outstanding! Thank you so much for asking.---Kathy

Re: Great shot

Yeah, there's nothing quite like it elsewhere.
And thank you for the nice words!

I see you've done some traveling to great places particularly in Central America. I've got to get there someday!

I really like the...

intense green of the water in this photo. Looks like a gigantic emerald green snake slithering through the forest.

Re: I really like the...

Thanks! I've decided last night to use this one in my 2011 calendar pictures. Such a beautiful place!

Not Grinnell Lake

This is actually the head Lake Josephine. The creek that's visible runs downstream from Grinnell Lake, which is out of view from this vantage point. Great photo by the way!

Re: Not Grinnell Lake

Thanks distressbark for correcting my error. As much as I love hiking and the mountains and maps I still can't identify things for the life of me.
