Did the south ramp, Nice quick approach. Saw some goats and great view from the top. Starting raining on the decent, so we opted to take the mining trail down... Trial is good by the mine, then a bushwack down to the main trail. Wet but happy to have touched the top.
Thanks for the great info and elaborating on the Edwards info. We took the South Ramp Route up. At the crux we ended up going straight up through a tree that tore us up. We weren't able to locate the summit cairn but went to an easterly point on the ridge and had a great view of the hotel. We decided via the Old Miner Route. The trail is followable for half the distance from the mine to the Grinnell Glacier trail, and then ended up bushwhacking a bit. Lots of goats doing crazy maneuvers at the top.
Dragged a buddy from home up this one on a road trip in 2008. Of course he loved it. It's the perfect hike to get someone hooked on Glacier climbing, as countless first year Many Glacier employees have found out through the years.
P.S.
We saw a wolverine.

Very enjoyable day climb with Jayba the Manjo back in 2006. The mine was pretty cool and the summit view pretty incredible for such a short trip. As per usual, not quite the stroll that Edwards makes it out to be, but not very difficult either.

East Ridge route
Enjoyable climb with little bushwhacking. Climbed with OTHG and came back past Josephine mine for a brief exploration before looping down to the trail

Exciting, challenging route finding and fun scrambling. Stopped to explore the Josephine Mine, but didn't want to get my boots wet before we started climbing.
Also climbed on June 14, 2010 via South Ramp Route. On our way down, spotted a huge grizzly sow and two large cubs on the Lake Josephine Trail from several hundred feet above; able to holler down and alert a group of hikers. Reached the trail a short while after and made TONS of noise. Fortunately, the family moved off the trail, and although we ended up walking within 100 feet of them, they seemed fine with our presence. Monstrous thunderclap and a brief torrential downpour for the last 15 minutes around Swiftcurrent Lake. Always an enjoyable climb!
