Dayhike
This time not doing my homework resulted in a pleasant surprise. I don't know why but I thought Haskell had no trail and was somewhat of a bushwhack. Not only if the FS road in great shape, the trail all the way to to the top is a breeze. Great views in all directions but especially to the Buttes which we went to after this peak.

On the trail
Spent a little more time than expected on the dirt roads from Mills Peak to Haskell. Enjoyed the hike and the great views. The giant cairn wasn't so giant anymore... someone must have knocked it over.
Great morning hike with Amy & the dogs after dispersed camping with a gorgeous view of Sierra Buttes. Nice to close the loop after an unsuccessful attempt a few years ago due to the road being closed due to snow.
The gravel road off Gold Lake Road (FS9/Haskell Peak Road) was in great condition, only had to stop twice on the 16 mile round trip to move a rock out of the way, otherwise it was easy going. The trail is easy to follow to the peak, very short hike. Afterword went on to Elwell and then Sierra Buttes, as they are all accessed via Gold Lake Road. TR is HERE.

From FS09
Followed the Haskell Peak Trail from FS09 for about a mile until breaking off and heading cross country. Cool summit cairn.

many times
This whole area near the Lakes Basin is really mellow and beautiful and this is an easy stroll up Haskell. Not much traffic up here on the east side of Gold Lake Hwy, so usually plenty of solitude and good exploring.
