When I've had about enough of winter in Wyoming and Idaho, about April every year I try to get down to the Henrys-Capitol Reef areas. I've done Ellen south and north peaks, Cass Creek Peak and Ellen Peak. In fact this April I want to do Mount Pennell and maybe one of the lower desert ones. Thanks for bringing this range to light.
I've had the opportunity to climb all the major peaks in the Henry's that have more than 2000' of prominence. Ellen, Pennell, Holmes, Ellsworth and Hillers. What fun and what isolation. Of course Mount Ellen sees a lot of visitors since it is fairly easy and is the county highpoint of Garfield County. Hillers, Holmes and Ellsworth I did with Andy Martin, Mount Ellen with Dennis Poulin and my son in law Andrew Davis, and Pennell with Andrew Davis. If you make a visit to this area, include as many of these peaks as you can. Two others I still want to visit are Bull Mountain and Ragged Top. Thanks to Scott for putting up a nice page for this whole range.
