Easy route up from the south. According to the park map, Island Butte in the southwest part of the park is the park highpoint. Hippo is #2. Still hiked up here anyways. Would recommend against this in summer when the snakes are all out and about.

It's A Scramble
When you get to treeline there's actually a trail up to the red rocks. Just aim for them and you'll find the trail. Less 45 minutes roundtrip. Great views.

It was screediculous
Lots and lots of scree. Climbed this one solo, originally thinking it was Bearpaw Butte, but then realized when I was on the summit that it was in fact, not. Great views of the Lava Beds Monument.
