Just in time before the heavens opened  Sucess!

On a beautiful morning, the four of us headed out from Bielerhöhe. There was still a whole lot of old snow on the north side of the Radschulter, but the top layer was soft enough so we didn't need crampons.

As we hiked and scrambled up the last part, clouds filled the sky, and soon a few isolated drops came down. It was a hot day, and according to the weather forecast thunderstorms in the afternoon were a distinct possibility. Two in our party turned back, but Wilco and I thought it didn't look too threatening just yet and continued. Within fifteen minutes we were on the top. It was still dry, with a friendly sky to the north but some less friendly clouds to the south. It didn't look like it would start raining soon though.
We went down to our packs at the Radschulter, and continued to the Radsattel. That's a short distance, but the clouds from the south moved in fast, and before we were half way there it started raining, first just a drizzle, but minutes later it got more serious and then it developed into hail. We quickly put on our wets, but while my jacket did a fair job of keeping my torso dry, my pants proved to be rather poor and I got soaked.
Fortunately, after an hour, the rain stopped again and the sun returned in force once more. Before we got back to Bielerhöhe, I was dry.

Drove in by night. Nice relexing hike after sleeping in the car for some hours. One day tour after starting from the car at the Silvretta lake parking area.

Route climbed: Normal way via Radschulter  Sucess!

A long way from Madlenerhut to the summit, but we had perfect conditions, and all in all it was a fine warm-up for the Piz Buin two days later.

On our way from the Wiesbadener hut to the Jamtal Hut we ascended via the normal route in the morning. The weather was fantastic, i.e. no clouds, so we enjoyed an uninhibited view of the Silvretta peaks as well as a crisp view of the Verwall and Samnaun region.

The peak was well frequented at that day.

Just an afternoon stroll after getting to the Wiesbadener Hütte. There was a tunderstorm in the Verwall range and the view was unfortunately not as good as it should be.

Great mountain to start with. It took 2,5 hours to the summit and another 2,5 hours to go down over the Radsattel and the Wiesbadnerhütte. Conditions where no the best. It was very cold and there was quite some wind at the summit.
