Hiked out of and back into Te Anau 4 days later. Stayed at Luxmore Hut, camped at Iris Burn then at Shallow Bay Hut where there was only one other person rather than 40. Retrospectively I think the boat and bus means of trimming a day off would have been worth it to avoid tree overload. Kind of a hurricane for half the day on the tops but cleared up for spme cracking views.
