Tenerife would be like Big Island. Not quite as big, not quite as high, not quite as deep. But almost...

The archipelagos are pretty similar though Hawaii certainly is greener. The Canaries are close to the Sahara and much of them stays extremely dry. Only the north-eastern sides, where the trade wind clouds leave their humidity, are green and jungle-like.

A great page!

Its convenient to have an overview, and I especially liked the info about the alledged tsunami threat. I'm a sceptic, but let's hope we'll never find out one way or another.

thanks! i think the tsunami thread is real, however it is not clear when and to what extent. It might also happen, that the slope of Cumbre Vieja slides down slowly into the sea. In that the Tsunami will be a regular one, not a Megatsunami as reports say. Butt the fact is that on La Palma, landslides are not uncommon, on a geological timescale.
