Summer & Winter  Sucess!

Winter and summer ascents. Preferred winter as it was perfectly quiet and only two of us and the swish of skis.

Canada Day on Buller  Sucess!

Approached via the Buller Pass trail which we followed to just before the third bridge. Followed a faint trail and bushwacked a bit until a clearing. From there, we followed a drainage to the col beneath the summit. Tedious scree led to gravel covered slabs below the summit. Spent some time making a snowman at the col on the way back down. Not my favourite trip of the summer but the views were nice and the wild flowers were in full bloom.

Wonderful view.  Sucess!

Excellent day out. Up the Buller creek route down the other side to the spray lakes road. Really recommend this outing.

I needed a “filler” between a race and scheduled long run (marathon training) and Mount Buller’s scramble served that purpose. It is readily accessible and not taxing on the brain either. I did observe a fresh lamb kill that is more than likely the result of a bear. It was too low to be associated with a mountain lion. And it was precisely on the descent route. I have done all the mountains around Buller. It is a great mountain to observe a ton of climbing objectives from. Cheers.
