Climbing Elbert
Camped in San Isabel NF. Started from N. Elbert TH at 0700hrs, and reached the summit at 1105hrs. Stayed at summit till 1150hrs and made it back to TH at 1435hrs. Summit was packed w/ people. Clear day and great views.
Intended to do South Elbert Trail. Found the old mining road, that dead ends and some tailings. Route found my way up the ridge, hit the 14er on the southwest slope of Elbert along the Black Cloud Trail and continued up to Elbert. Fantastic climb. Took 5 hours to go 11 miles roundtrip. Returned on the South Elbert trail.
Hit the Black Cloud trail at 2:50 am and summited around 8:20 under a beautiful clear sky in strong winds, with two partners close behind. We stayed on the summit for over an hour and left when it got crowded. What a view! We descended the scree slopes beneath the South Elbert / Elbert saddle and followed the creeks down the valley until they converged near the old cabin ruins and we rejoined the trail.

Final Fourteener
This was ranked 14er #53 for me, I have completed the list!! It was a great day to summit with a lot of great friends. I carried a grill to the top so we could have hot dogs along with our beer, shots and cigars! Thanks to everyone that I've climbed with over the years - it's been an amazing ride! And thanks to everyone behind the scene for your support!!

First 14'er
Drove nonstop from Texas with my brother and father to climb Mt. Elbert. Great trip! Got an early start and all three of us made the summit by 11am despite the heavy snow and wind at the top. Going back June 2010 to climb Mt. Elbert again along with Mt. Massive.

Northeast Ridge
Snowshoed up the Northeast Ridge from the North Mount Elbert Trailhead with my girlfriend Meghan. The wind at the summit was stronger than anything that I had previously experienced.

Nice day. Not too difficult. Snowshoes were nice towards the bottom at the end of the day. New high-point for my canine companion.

Mt Elbert Trail
Hiked up the Mt Elbert trail with my brothers. The weather turned out nicely after somewhat inauspicious portents the previous evening.
Good climb with friends...odd experience though in that the summit had a man with dress pants and wingtips, another with a full size poodle with a ribbon in it's ear! Takes all types to enjoy the mtns.

Started at South Elbert trail. Beautiful day, no clouds, a lot of snow, but hardpacked from other hikers and skiers. For about an hour, I was the highest person in Colorado. Incredible views. HP #18.

Nice easy hike once I found the well-trampled highway. Met some crazy dudes who had camped on the summit the night before. Trip report
