Good Climb of HP #21
Hasse, Eva and Caj started in alpine style from the Elbert Creek campground and summitted in good spirit after all the false summits. Off the summit before the thunderstorms came in. The third highest state highpoint.
We continued South to Taos ski valley after climbing Mt Elbert, to make an attempt on the NM highpoint, Wheeler Peak.

Indian Summer
On the summit in a base layer! It was SO warm! Went up the South Mt. Elbert trail, parking at the creek crossing. Sweet trail. The steepness of the first part of the trail will fool you, but the rest is cake! What a beautiful day!

Nice hike
Really felt the altitude 36 hours after arriving from NC. Gorgeous aspens made it worth it.
Best weather I've seen all season on my way up and down the Northeast Ridge. Not a cloud in the sky, no wind on the summit and in the high 60's on the way down. Just a little residual snow on the trail above 13K, but easily avoidable.
A wonderful day with three, maybe four clouds in the blue, blue sky and just a handful of people atop Colorado in the early morning. Lucky us! Wonderful to see the sun rise just as we passed treeline.

Elbert
Can't say that this was the greatest hike but it was still satisfying to reach the top of Colorado.

Via Black Cloud
Ascended via Black Cloud and descended via South Elbert (cars at both trailheads). The hike up Black Cloud was tough but beautiful with fresh snow on La Plata and Ellingwood Ridge.

A lifelong dream
Baaa. Been wanting to do this since I was a little kid. I dedicate this climb to Grandma and Grandpa, although they are gone, for introducing me to the mountains back in NC. It was 5.5 miles and 4800 ft. vertical from near the start of the 4WD road for South Elbert Trail. Nice clear views from the top.

Nice morning
Left Chicago on the evening of 19th and rolled into Leadville in time to head to the bar, only to watch my Red Wings lose game 2 in overtime to the Avalanche. It all worked out though. I hiked to Colorado's highest point the next day and the Wings raised the cup a few weeks later!

Perfect Weather
Climbed the east ridge, and you could not ask for better weather to hike in. Hiked with some friends, and it was their first 14er. It was great.

Awesome hike and great trail! Camped close to Elbert Creek Campground and got an early start. My quads were killing me from Mt Sherman yesterday but thankfully was able to make it!

Father / Son
Took my 9 year old up the South Ridge. We made the summit at 9:15 am after a 6:20 start. He was a real trooper. On the way down we watched the thunder clouds build and we were driving out by 12pm. Saw lots of people heading up.
