Route Climbed: Mt. Evans Loop Date Climbed: July 9, 2004
Very cool hike. Came across one hiker the whole day! Big change compared to Grays / Torreys and Mt. Bierstadt. Definately fun hiking on the ridge the whole way across. Weather was perfect, wind was perfect, just a great day to be outside, and be alive!
Route Climbed: West ridge Date Climbed: September 18, 2004
The willows are the most memorable thing about this climb. They are a major pain. Be sure the weather is alright since the ridge is long and hard to retreat from. Summitted later in the day so that we were able to avoid the majority of the gawking tourists. They wouldn't understand why we hike anyways.
Route Climbed: West Ridge from Guanella Pass Date Climbed: July 11, 1987
Finding one's way thru the willows is what you really remember from this climb. That and the hoarde of tourists near the top that gawk at you carrying a pack (I know they're thinking: "Why didn't you just drive up and hike from the parking area?"). If I had to answer that question, they wouldn't understand the answer anyway. Alas....just make sure the weather holds out ok if you try this and have to return to the western summit...I wouldn't want to be there in a storm.
Route Climbed: South slopes Date Climbed: September, 1990
Climbed this as part of a dayhike that included Mount Bierstadt. After summiting Bierstadt I dropped down chutes into the Abyss Lake basin, and then groveled up the loose slope to the summit of Evans. Bit of a crowd scene on top with all the cars and sightseers, but the Colorado Rockies are beautiful no matter what the conditions are...
Route Climbed: Sawtooth from Bierstadt (Guanella Pass) Date Climbed: June 8, 2004
What a way to start the summer! The Sawtooth was awesome! Encountered a few snowfields (next time I will take my ice axe). Glad we took the extra effort to hike over the ridges (on the way back) to meet back up with the Bierstadt trail, in lieu of trekking through the willows at the bottom.
Route Climbed: Northeast Face Date Climbed: June 5, 1999
Started from Summit Lake, and hiked alone the ridge line south of the bowl. Alot of snow still on the peak - a few people were hiking with skis. Very cold at the summit.
Route Climbed: Notheast Face Date Climbed: July 30, 2000
Started from Summit Lake with a co-worker. This was his first 14er and my second climb of this peak. We hiked up the bowl and through the rock field. My co-worked got really worn out and had to rest frequently. The round trip time was about 4 hours for 2 miles.
Route Climbed: Evans Loop Date Climbed: May 31, 2003
Started from Summit Lake and ascended over Mount Spaulding. Continued on to the summit of Evans along the ridgeline. Descended the same way instead of continuing the entire loop.
Route Climbed: Summit lake Date Climbed: September 18, 2004
Decided to do this one at night since my friends decided against climbing for the rest of the weekend. Went up the class three route instead of the class one route, which I realized to my chagrin 3/4 of the way up. Managed to make it up and back before the cold front hit, and the views of the cityscape were quite nice.
Route Climbed: Tourist Route Date Climbed: August 3rd, 2004
Drove up and walked to the summit for sunrise on the morning of Aus 3rd. Amazing views of Denver and the Mts. Though it was quite cold, and very windy up top.
Took one week vacation, try to visit ( hike ) as many peak as possible. Mt. Evans was the first stop. It was beautifull view. It was windy, no thunderstorm--LUCK ME.

Route Climbed: via the Sawtooth Date Climbed: March 12, 2005Much fun, I'd guess much of the traverse is easier in winter with the snow cover.
