Lots of Marmots! This was my first fourteener and one of my first hikes in Colorado. My first experience with this level of altitude was a trip! It was really quite busy at the summit and there seemed to be a rotating crowd. While I was up there a very large lightning storm blew in suddenly and it became a difficult situation finding a safe spot to go so go early! There were many marmots near the summit which was wonderful also. :)

Not QuiteWe got to about 13,250 and had to turn back because of weather. We had started at 5:30 and ended up turning around at 8:30 am! Rain, snow, thunder and LOTS of dark clouds made that an easy decision. Also, after my experience on Mt. Lindsey I opted to go back. Bummer especially after driving 5 hours from Philmont.

Southwest SlopesOnly got to spend about a minute enjoying the summit at about 10am, as the weather deteriorated quickly. I've never descended so fast.
