"After the first glass, you see things as you wish they were. After the second, you see things as they are not. Finally, you see things as they really are, which is the most horrible thing in the world."

North East Face CouloirIan Hunt and I climbed the right hand (northern) couloir on the North-East Face. Fun route, we had snow all the way up, including a tough exit of about 5.5/5.6, for about 40 metres on wet, snowy and loose rock. Descent via scramble route.

Narao PeakMade this a fast day compared to most reports. Still relatively dry conditions for October, despite being a north ridge. Incredible views looking down at the Watch Tower, sight of my recent climbing debacle. HUGE TREAT ON DESCENT....treed a marten (weasel-related to mink/fisher)(not on purpose of course) and tried in vain for 5 minutes to get a photo. Thought I surely had one, got home, nothing but a fur ball. Very shy. Growled the whole time. I felt guilty after a while and left him/her alone. Great oportunity to experience a marten up close.
