Long drive, perfect weather
Route A with a slight variation. There was a spiky subpeak only 12' lower than the true summit. Found a reference mark, but no benchmark. Previous visitor was from February, 2023.

Great peak. GPX track here harder than it needs to be.
This is a great peak. High enough to have big, healthy pinon up high. For reference, this climb is just a bit tougher than Big Maria, but easier than Whipple.
The GPX track included here is harder than it needs to be. When you reach the saddle at the top of the initial drainage ascent at ~4100 feet, the track wraps around into the drainage South of the saddle before ascending again. Don't do this. Instead, just turn right and ascend the obvious hill in front of you. There's always a path, Class 2 the whole way. You'll rejoin the track at ~4500 feet, near the top of the drainage (where you'll see occasional cairns/use trail.) This change saves you ~20 minutes and a whole lot of loose side-hilling each way.

3x
A DPS 3x list finish for Tina B. For me, the third time up. This time up the DPS D route, down the C route. Rough road to the trailhead.

Almost twice in two days
Penelope Smrz and I got caught by a pretty heavy rain and fog while half way up this thing on February 27, 2017. We turned back and spent the night in our camper being rocked by the wind and rain. At 6am next day, the sky was clear, cold but sunny, so off we went again. This time weather was nice so we got the summit. Nice hike.

2nd Ascent
Just as I remembered it. Still fun. #50 on my 2nd DPS list finish. On to Mitchell Point!
