Gangolf, you put all your effort and skills also into this, as you said the last page of La Palma. Great accomplishment! Congratulations!
Now, on which tourist office payroll are you now - Sardinia or La Palma? Or both?

Thanks Vid! I received special endorsements by the Sardinian, Corsican and all Canarian tourist boards :-) Time to focus on the Pale (and surroundings) - unfortunately I'm not sure how my hiking will be. I have had surgery on my ankle and the wound just broke up again. Two months left - I hope this will be enough.
Ooooh, I'm sorry to hear that! What happened to your ankle? Why was the surgery necessary?

Nothing serious - it was swollen in one place. The surgary was two weeks ago and I already felt like everything was ok. Maybe I got a little too optimistic....
Gangolf, I've never been there, but now, thanks to your descriptions and pictures, I know everything about this place...would it be really useful for me to visit it.....? :-)))

Would it be useful? Depends on what you like. Almost no beaches, lots of good hiking but nothing difficult. Wait a minute - there is a barranco in the north-east of the island which is supposed to be difficult and dangerous to hike through. Also the hike into the Caldera de Taburiente from the south is supposed to be dangerous.
Both were closed due to mudslides - which tells you about the kind of danger ;-)
Gangolf, now that you have written the difinitive Canaries guidebook, when can we expect to have hardcover copies available?
I especially like your interactive photos!

Thanks Don! I'm afraid there are too many excellent guidebooks about the Canaries already. It's too much of a tourist place. On the other hand it makes getting there affordable. Even from the US. Scott Patterson found out that a round-trip ticket out of Denver (?? not sure) was $700. Not too much if you consider the distance.
If you like those panos - thank Brendon for it. He pioneered the technique and I just copied. They are quite a huge amount of work still. You need to find out which peak is where. Claude (Sherlock) Mauguier did a great job helping me with this one lately.
Thanks Nikolai! Believe it or not - I have been to Gran Canaria, Tenerife and La Palma and I only swam in the ocean once on GC. If the weather is fine there is just no reason to bore yourself to pieces on a beach
