Pröllweg to Schareck, end of July 1988

I started very early on a glorious morning at the Niedersachsenhaus refuge and went up the Pröllweg, which continuously follows the Neunerkogel-Herzog Ernst-Schareck ridge and thus offers a marvellous and ever-increasing view over the whole Salzburger Land the entire length of the way. The key passage shortly before reaching Schareck was quite tricky, for one thing because the rungs fixed to the cliff were so far apart and apart from that, you only had the metal rope to hold on to "for dear life" - at least that's how it was in 1988; I haven't been there since. I went to the summit of Schareck, came back down - that's when I really clung to the rope for dear life on the key passage! - turned left at Herzog Ernst, went to the Naturfreundehaus Neubau via Fraganter Scharte, had a bit of a rest - and went up the Sonnblick in the late afternoon and evening, which was really spectacular! What a day that was!
