Thanks. Shane Burrows took all the best photos on the page. I had to email him to get them. My photos aren't too bad on this page

I do have quite a few fair to good photos of the Western Uintas; this is because I took so many for the guidebook and some turned out OK. In the wilderness area, my photos are much poorer (ie for my pages on Lamotte and The Cathedral), which is one reason the guidebook was shortened to only cover the west section. I also didn't have the time to complete the book on the entire range, or to rephotograph everything. Poor photos is also the reason I have refrained from adding many peaks in the wilderness and central sections, though I do have some fair shots of Emmons, Cleve, Clover, and Gilbert from an August 1995 trip, and I had some fair ones for Spread Eagle. If I had better photos, I would submit alot more in the Uintas. Many of my climbs there were done in 1990 and 1991, and that's when I didn't have a good camera. I did take good notes however, so if I ever do have some good photos, I would add more peaks. They would make nice editions since there are actually very few peaks in the Uintas that are covered in a guidebook. I guess I do have some acceptable photos for Explorer, Squaw, and Cleveland Peaks, and maybe of the peaks surrounding Allsop Lake and Deadhorse Lake, but I'll add the peaks I do have better photos of (Mount Marsell is next) before thinking of those ones.

Did you get the book yet? I mailed it Saturday.

I came across Shane's web page several years ago. I referred to it quite often before SP really got going. Hope I didn't steal any Uinta peaks you'd been planning to submit. Last fall I started getting bored with the same old Wasatch peaks, so I headed to the Uintas on several weekends for a change of scenery. Several of them, particularly Yard and Beulah, turned out to be a lot more difficult than I expected to find in the Uintas!

I didn't receive the book yesterday. If you mailed it Saturday it will probably be here today. Thanks again...

If you visit Shane's website, look under the Technical/Highly Skilled section and you will see pictures with me in them of some great trips I've done with Shane. I don't really add technical routes to the SP, but tech routes I've done are on other websites (including climb-utah.com) or other guidebooks (such as Kelsey's-I know him well too). I have a story in there as well under the "Adventure Stories" section as well, if you wanted to take a look. Shane is a nice guy.

Anyway, don't worry about "stealing" any Uintas Peaks. My idea is to share the information, nothing more. Your pictures are obviously of much higher quality than mine. Any information you have will be more up-to-date as well, as I live in Colorado now, and its been several years since I've climbed many of these peaks.

If you ever do want info on the Uintas, I do have alot. I've climbed most peaks in the Uintas west of the Uinta River and Henrys Fork all the way to Kamas and the one east of Hayden (no name). Some exceptions are Yard Peak, Red Castle, I don't have as many in the far east section, but do have some of them out there. Favorites are The Cathedral, Explorer, north ridge of Lamotte, Henrys Fork, and Powell. Make sure to get those ones!

I miss Utah. Colorado has some great mountains as well, but also lots of private land. I miss being able to pull over anywhere and hike in any direction without hitting a ranch or private property sign.
