To the Sentinel once more..
On the 7th of May, after being unsuccessful on the Bell the previous day, my friend Mike Chandler and I packed a light country rack and one rope and set off to Witsies to climb and appreciate this beautiful peak once more. This time via McCleod's variation. And how worth it! There is a special atmosphere in the Berg and I always dream of more.
Route Climbed: Via Chain Ladders? Date Climbed: 24 December 2000
Park at the Ranger Station on the North Side and make sure you pay for parking and tell the ranger your route.A good pull up the Zig Zags and a pleasant walk to the chain ladders, theyre in good nick,a bit vertical but just hang on,the view from the top is sensational.I think you walk into Lesotho at some point aswell. Also saw the most spectacular lightning and thunder storm on the way down, thank god we were in the car,but it still scared the s*** out of us!
