"So I was sitting in my cubicle today, and I realized, ever since I started working, every single day of my life has been worse than the day before it. So that means that every single day that you see me, that's on the worst day of my life."

Relay Peak NevadaRelay Peak is the highest point on the Tahoe Rim Trail. With an extremely dry winter in the Sierra Nevada Mountains, I did this hike expecting little or no snow. The trailhead from Mt. Rose summit (Mt. Rose highway 431) has parking and easy access. At just over 5 miles this is a fairy easy hike I have done several times in the past. There are a couple of routes you can take, either by following the Mt. Rose trail, and, branching off, or by taking the service road path which is an easier route. I took the easier route as the weather was changing quickly. I started out on a dry trail, and much to my surprise I hit snow about 2 miles in. By the time I got to Frog's Lake the snow had gotten too deep to continue without the snowshoes I had back in the car. I was post holing every other step. In any case, without the snow this is a nice easy hike, with great views of Tahoe and looking west towards Donner Lake.
