Look forward to seeing how this grows. I've attached my Glossary article, which covers English toponomy but leaves plenty of room for more. Google docs sounds like a good idea to me.
Having this information directly on SP seems relevent to me. I'm sure there other pages/subjects on SP that are already covered by some random website somewhere.
If we manage to have an accurate list, I think this can be useful.
I agree that this info is really important, but I think it should be put in the first row of the left column in every mountain, range, route ecc page, otherwise it could be not seen ... so, useless
I would suggest to open a thread asking elves to do it
It was a surprise for me to know about amazing nartreb´s glosary page. Also, it was a shock the great page that gabriele.roth show us. I was so sorprised I thought we were working on this page for nothing. But Myzantrope is right, it´s good for SP comunity to has this info. Even we can have a look these other sites and get some ideas, adding our own ideas... we can make a good dictionary.
In my opinion this new page is a good complement for nartreb one. I would be great link each term defined in his page with the same term here and viceversa.
Also, gabriele is right, all our efford will be in vane if people doesn´t know about this two pages: glosary and dictionary. Maybe this kind of essential pages should be remarked in any way... so make a quetion to the elves is a good idea.
Now let me tell you about other thinks in my mind about the dictionary... why don´t we add the pronountiation of the words?
As a language student I learnt who to pronounce words reading the figurate pronountiation. I´ve found a page to get the figurate pronountiation for Spanish words. In the other languages is not difficult... we have this in common bilingual dictionaries.
In the Spanish Team forum we talked about create a parallel list of Spanish regional terms. I´m sure in other countries wil be the same... Also, there are a lot ot languages in SP and it would be great if we can get the terms in more languages. These regional terms and the other languages would be added in child pages.
The page is large enough to extra column to translate in languages with large communities on SP such as : Polish, Serbian/Croation, Hungarian/Pakistanese...
If you would like Welsh (I know them all) and Scottish Gaelic (I know a few) terms to the dictionary, then let me know and I'll give you a hand adding them.
Hi, we can look for a way to include those languages and many others too of course.
I talk with some of the Spanish Team SP members about a page with terms used only in specific areas of Spain... this page would be a new page attached as child to this one.

Glacier?Nice job here, this is quite a piece of work, but I think the word 'Glacier' is a rather glaring omission!

Re: Glacier?no worries, it's looking better everyday.
BTW I've attached my glossary of Welsh mountain names to your article, they seem to compliment each other quite nicely.
Cheers

Re: Just a thoughtMonsieur how dare you! there are over 600,000 of us you know! All I have to say to such an insult is 'Cer i grafi!!' :)
(it's not really rude at all, the Welsh are really bad at inventing swear words)
