(Mostly) Good in Summer Too  Sucess!

I saw this route of the Sundial and it sounded not only quicker, but more fun than the standard route.
Me and my camping buddy Daniel, started off with just hiking shoes, some water, and I did bring a helmet and ice axe (not sure of the amount of snow still left in July).
Pretty much EVERYTHING was loose, dirty or slippery. But we evaluated our ability to down climb it, and continued up to the saddle for a sweet picture. Then headed south to the summit.
aprox 1.5hrs up (lots of route finding, stopping, thinking, asking if it was a safe thing to continue etc...) Signed the summit log, had a quick snack and was down in less than 45mins.
It was a good challenge that could safely be done with the right plan. Lots of fun for more adventurous route to the summit in the summer.

Great Alternative  Sucess!

More or less an experimental route but it worked out great. You might want to try it.
