Spectacular!
Fun crew of scramblers and climbers took on The Hermit from Darwin Bench camp. I clawed my way up the off-width 5.8 crack while everyone else enjoyed the 5.6 slab in 40mph wind. Carried on to Hermit South and Socialite for a full day.

from Evolution Lake
Penelope and I scrambled up the 4th class face way to the left of the approach gully on June 27, 2015. From RJ Secor 3rd Edition you really don't have a clue where the ascent gully is located. So we just went up the face and when almost at the top, traversed right until we hit the Main Chute. Only then did we see the gully. It's pretty dirty miserable chute. Glad we actually missed it going up. Had some fun with the block (without rope). I don't remember harder summit block in the Sierra. Good if wet trip

Solo
Over from Darwin Bench and up the east chute... did not find the chute to be very pleasureable, but not as bad on the way down. Summit was harder than it looks- went up the step on the south side. No one else had signed the register in 2 years, but would think someone must have been since then.
Darwin Canyon and Darwin Bench were fantastic.

Sierra Challenge
Day 1 of SC-with Tom Becht and Matthew Holliman for his SPS list finish. Nice summit block climb-the noises that Matthew makes while struggling on his climbing are funny. Long day, and coming from sea level and freshly acquired hangover.
Camped w/ friends at EVO Lake. Tough summit block.

Scree Chute from Hell
Summited with a group of six friends. The summit block was a lot of fun. I went up the 5.6 off-width jam crack which felt much harder than that. A few others did the 5.8 face. The upper main chute had the most loose rock I've encountered in the Sierra. Helmets are advisable.
