pretty hard......to post an original shot on the Hood page (with its 2 million photos) but looks like you've done that. Nice and UNIQUE shot.

Re: pretty hard...Thank you very much for the compliment! I know what you mean - I've got something like 5,000 pics but I hate to post something close to what's already been done - hard to go through the huge archive on some of the mountain pages!
BTW, You have a nice repertoire and some great pics too.
Best regards,
Don

Man, does this....bring back memories of slogging up the south side in the middle of the night. Nice.

Re: Man, does this....Yeah, one of the cool things about this climb is the great views - of Portand, of course, but all the way to Eugene and even the glow of the Seattle city lights to the north. I've climbed Hood 8 or 9 or nine times, always starting about midnight so this has always been a surrealistic event for me.

Exposure timeHow long was this exposure? Looks longer than your typical night-time shot (bright city lights, elongated stars etc.). Nice job!

Re: Exposure timeThank you for the compliment!
This was taken June 24th, 1986 with a circa 1980 Olympus OM 10 with a 50mm fixed-focus lens set at f1.8. I used ASA100 forced to ASA25 to lengthen the automatic exposure time. I've found that this is a good way to get enough light onto the film to bring out the deep blues in what would show up as an otherwise black sky. I think the exposure was about a minute. Also, there was a nearly full moon behind me to light up the snow.
best regards,
Don
