The Molar Traverse on Sargents Ridge
January 10, 2010 - What we dubbed "The Molar Traverse", below what we dubbed "The Molar", just below Shastarama Point. To our surprise, the slopes were just over 50 degrees and composed of an awkward, thin wind slab on top of shallow snow. This made kick-stepping hard, and self arrest before hitting cliffs below unlikely. The slopes weren't as steep lower on the slope, so I'd recommend that line next time.
