"The Red But(te) Green Thread ?"

One may encounter this when visiting the extreme southern portion of the GRAND STAIRCASE-ESCALANTE National Monument in southern UTAH. Located approximately 9 miles east of 7,271' MOLLIES NIPPLE, this is the typical type of rock in this area. I wouldn't recommend anybody climbing on this 5,406' high butte, aptly named GINGHAM SKIRTS BUTTE. I INCLUDED it just to show you the brillant COLOURS of God's paintbrush. Little did I know that this humble red butte in southern Utah would be the start of something BIG, the (so-called) "Red But(te) Green Thread?"

Re: butterflies

Somewhere in the twilight zone, the late and
great Rodney Dangerfield is straightening his
tie, and muttering those fateful words:

Why do I never get any respect ??? ?? ?

Next please :))) )) )
I think I just discovered the answer to your last question - it seems surprisingly simple, Larry, you just have to wait a decade or two :)

Re: butterflies

You're right, Jacek!

Compared to the rest of the world, the United
States is STILL a very YOUNG country.

Of course, age NEVER matters ... unless you're a piece of cheese !!! : )))

Re: butterflies

I bet all your CW and CE European ancestors would agree. :)

Re: butterflies

It's a crying shame.

I wanted to hear from my ancestors lips what
their opinions were, but when they spoke I
couldn't understand a word they were saying!

Sometimes, only the EYES will tell the story.

Couldn't agree more. Especially since my life's turned out to be a crying shame. :)

Re: butterflies

Picture your next life!

Can you see yourself flying over the Grand
Canyon as a raven, or soaring over the Alps
as a hawk ???

Re: butterflies

Could I ask for a falcon over the Carpathians?

Re: butterflies

Sure can do.

How about a goshawk over the Dolomites ???

Or a Little Brown Bat over the High Tatra?

Re: hewhoflies

I'd like to see the mountains clearly as well as being able to move fast again: a goshawk then - over the Tatras :)
And how about you, Larry - a red elephant bathing in the Verde River or a wooly mammoth in Alaska?

Re: hewhoflies

I already have a brother flying over the
Grand Canyon, so I guess I would go further
north; where the glaciers meet the sea !!!

Re: hewhoflies

I am sorry to hear of your brother, Larry. As to the afterlife, on this side of the Pond, especially in the East Mediterranean regions they actually say the choice is either a land - I guess partly mountainous - of unthinkable beauty or a depressing flatland or rather deep depression, hotter than AZ in summer. The only problem is that it's not you any more who makes the choice.

Re: hewhoflies

In other words, "free choice" is just a dream, a fantasy created by those who hold the key to the door between the here and the hereafter.

If I can withstand the heat of Arizona, why
can't I withstand the heat of the hereafter?

Who is the gatekeeper, and where does
somebody get a cold beer around here ??? ??

Phew

Now that is some terrific banding. And by request of the Album - again colouration caused by oxidation (rust) of the iron present in the rock. The oxygen itself synthesised by Stromatolites.

Re: Phew

Thank you much, Ray!

I didn't realize it was placed in the "Danger - Humoruous Album" category.

I suppose that humor is alive & well in most
of my photographs. I wouldn't have it any
other way !!!

Did you know:

In America, LAUGHTER is not only the BEST medicine, but it's the ONLY medicine that
people can afford !!!

Have a GREAT day, Ray. : ))

Re: Phew

I stumbled across the image in the Album "Mountains of Extreme Color". http://www.summitpost.org/parent/249467/mountains-of-extreme-color.html

That medicine joke is real funny. On a similar note. It is believed true that, people who laugh a lot don't get sick. I can believe that. Just need to be careful not to overdose, and die laughing - hahaha!

HA, that's funny ... !

As humorist Guoucho Marx once said, before his death:

"I'm not a vegetarian, but I eat animals who are."
