Dr. Dean ?This really sparks nostalgic for
me. Back when I was a boy scout,
we had a weekend outing here.
It looks ... exactly the same.

Re: Dr. Dean ?I can only envy those lucky ones who get to grow up in this kind of area. Yes, I don't think that area has to worry about urban development or sprawl. I've been really enjoying this part of Utah.

My sentiments exactly !Yeah. As long as you have a snow shovel around; it can be rather practical. I used to
work at Dugway. I had to drive over that PASS
during the winter. It was very challenging!!!
I had to leave early; but when I did, had to
play DODGE-A-DEER. Then, I ran out of GASOLINE, and a farmer let me use his phone.
HAPPY MEMORIES! Thanks for posting, DEAN!!!
Snow falling downward ... a beautiful THING!

Re: My sentiments exactly !I've wondered about the people that have to drive that pass in dicey weather. It has a few challenging spots up above the campground and then again as it drops through the narrow slot on the west side. I wonder if you could ever get permission to climb Granite Peak?

Mister Dean ?Are you referring to the GRANITE PEAK in Utah's Beaver County, just to the east of
Milford, Utah??? That's the only Granite Peak I know about.
I think your topo-map is better than mine.
Mine was made in CHINA. Now... let's not take Granite Peak ... FOR GRANTED. | : )

How did we ever geton this subject? How about the Department of the Army - they would probably know. Thanks for the link! Lookout Pass is in the Sheeprocks. Erickson Pass is the one with all
the water. Guess those horses have plenty to drink.
I was not allowed in that area you're referring
to. But, that was back in the early 1980s.
I'm hopeful that things have changed since then. If you talk to a representative of the
DOD, maybe you can get a permit or something.
They used to have some military exercises out
in that direction. I was working at the DUGWAY commisary at that time. Take care, Dean!
