Re: Perfect! The whole previous afternoon & evening, it was blowing in earnest. I was pleasantly surprised to discover this mirror image in the morning.

Peaceful...Is Lily Lake to the north of Blanca? What approach did you take to end up here (I assume you camped at the lake and this is the morning after)

Re: Peaceful...I should have looked before asking... (On the main page: "2) Huerfano River Valley Access") -- Is this looking east-ish, toward Mt. Lindsey and Iron Nipple?

Re: Peaceful...Lily Lake is just North-East of Blanca. You acces the lake via Huerfano trailhead. You, absolutely need to spend a night there. It is so peaceful and the views towards Mt Lindsey and the iron nipple are AMAZING with the setting sun. Here are 2 pix of Lindsey from the evening:

Re: Peaceful...This is looking South-West. Blanca is the peak the farthest from the lake

Re: Peaceful...That's the route I've been sizing up. How long is the hike in from the trailhead? Also, what was your turn time to get back to this site after summiting?

Re: Peaceful...I think, it took me about 3 hours to get to the lake. I started, though, 1 mile before the trail head. Parked at the Huerfano trail head instead of lily Lake trail head and took my time. i did not summit Blanca from that side - I think that's class 5 and I'm not into that. However, I'm planning on climbing Blanca from the west, lake Como approach. That's just a scramble.
