Approach
As noted on the main page the trail starts at Obertillach. You can go to Klapfsee in Obertillacher Tal Valley by car - and most people do. Just take the side road from Obertillach southward through the valley. It ends at Klapfsee

The first section of the climb can either be hiked along the road to "Neue Porze Hütte" or by a short-cutting footpath. From the Hut take the trail (No 17) in westerly direction which heads directly for the Porzescharte Pass (runing along the base of the mountain). Actually "directly" is a little bit out of touch - the trail winds through the Porze Cirque often changing direction. The general direction, however, is southwest and you will finally reach the pass.
From the Porzescharte Pass turn eastward onto the Porze western ridge. The protected trail (ferrata) cuts through the north face at first before it turns over to the southern side. Here the going gets smoother and after one hour you reach the summit cross
Essential Gear
Hiking gear and a ferrata set: helmet, harness and two short ropes with biners.
