Ascent in soft snow  Sucess!

The day was rather too warm for this route - I realised after my footstep collapsed and I slowly slid to the bottom of the gully! Took a couple of belay stances on the way for safety. Not fantastic conditions but nice to do.

My first ever Scottish Gulley!  Sucess!

Had to take a guess at the date - I think it was Easter holidays 1973...
I was under instruction and we certainly climbed using one wooden hafted ice-axe - and possibly without crampons and cutting steps! Back then I seem to recall being taught step-cutting before you were set loose in crampons. A year or so later I climbed it again, I think with 12 point crampons, but my companion had vintage 1940's 10-pointers!

High in the Grade  Sucess!

High in the grade for Grade I, perhaps I/II is more appropriate. Ice tools, as opposed to a single ice axe, is handy. We moved together for the whole route, though I never really felt like I needed the protection.
