Kneeknocker Pass

...from the other side. This is what you have to downclimb. And reclimb on the way back.

Kneeknocker...

and headsplitter, I'd say. This reminds me of the Mountaineers Route on Whitney. I once broke two fingers coming down on it.

Re: Kneeknocker...

Ouch. What happened? Rockfall, or just plain fall?

This wasn't all that bad, I have to say. You know you're golden when the talus is (seems) stable.

Re: Kneeknocker...

It was a dumb accident. I slipped and on the way down I hit a boulder I was trying to grab. That didn't stop me. I just stopped because of the rough surface.
I had never heard of the "You're golden" expression before.

Re: Kneeknocker...

Really? I feel like it's fairly common, at least around this neck of the woods

Re: Kneeknocker...

One time I was descending the talus slopes
on the north face of Pyramid Peak in eastern
Nevada.

Luckily, I made it without mishap, and said
to myself ..by golly ... you must be SILVER!

There was an old silver mine nearby.
