Route Photos of My Attempt to Climb Mount Daly

This album is a collection of my pictures from my attempt to climb Mount Daly via the Daly/Capitol saddle. I was unsuccessful. I made it approximately half way (distance wise) before I ran out of time. Since my son and good friend were waiting for me at the saddle I only gave myself a narrow time window, which I quickly found would be insufficient with the route finding I needed to do. More than likely, I did not choose the best route!

There is no climber's trail and there are no cairns. The information I was given, by two different sources, said to stay on the east side of the ridge, where the route is Class 2 with some Class 3. The lower slopes are scree filled. The rock up near the ridgeline can be quite loose.

I’m submitting this primarily for informational purposes. Hopefully the pictures and limited information above will provide some useful beta to anyone wanting to summit Mount Daly via this route.

Daly

I liked this album. We were at Snownmass Village a few weeks ago. Daly appeared as quite an impressive peak from there.

I've heard that the view of Daly from Snowmass Village is spectacular. I should get that view a few times on my upcoming trip as I'll be heading out from Snowmass Creek Trailhead at least once.

There just isn't a lot of info on Daly on SP so hopefully these pics will provide some help to anyone that is looking for beta. The views back to Capitol make the hike/climb more than worthwhile. I definitely be back some day.
