Excellent performance
This shoe is great when used as an approach shoe or for peak bagging. The grip is excellent and the adjustable lacing can't be beat. I'm not so sure about using this as a trail runner as the lack of padding in the fore-foot can be rough on the down hill sprints. Also, because of the padding under the heal and the fact that the base is not flared at all makes it easy to roll an ankle if you're not careful. All in all, a lightweight yet durable shoe with great technical capabilities.

Update
Now they are calling it the Exum Pro instead of the Ridge. Still the approach shoe of choice for everyone around southern Utah, canyoneers and climbers alike. I have the old ridge and new pro side by side in my closet and can't say they changed it much which is a good thing. One hell of an approach shoe.

Exum Pro: pretty good for $90
Sole is not quite as sticky as I expected. The toe (as expected) is a little tight, so if you run significant distances, you may wear the skin off your toes.
Well ventilated.
My 1st use was a 14 mile trailless hike with ~4500' elevation gain. I got significant blisters and rubbing -- that surprised me, as I haven't had that many blisters from new shoes for maybe 12 years; it's rare that I actually need to "break-in" approach shoes. HOwever, in several uses since, most of the irritation is gone.
06/17/09 update: OK I just upgraded from 4 to 5 stars. I tried tightening the top laces before a severe trailless downhill-- duh! -- and they are much better (in terms of irritation). Actually, the laces are good in themselves -- have never come undone on their own.

Solid Approach Shoe
I love these shoes. They fit slightly narrow in the toebox which is great for scrambling, but can cramp the foot if you have to do extented steep sidehilling. They fit really snug on my feet, with no wiggle. No break in period for me as they were good to go right out of the box. No blisters yet either. The breathe really well, smear really well on rock, and the laces don't seen to untie themselves like some others are known to. If I were to do a hike strictly on dirt trails, I might opt for boots or a more roomy shoe, but any trip with cross country or rocky terrain these shoes perform perfectly for my needs. Love 'em.
